You're an artist with a manuscript or a fat stack of poem drafts! Now what?! In this interactive workshop, multidisciplinary artist Dr. Adam Henze will discuss strategies for reframing the way we present our art to reach people outside of our purview. This workshop is beneficial for writers considering ways to expand their creative horizons and market themselves to different arts communities. Participants of all ages are welcome. Please bring a pen and journal for our guided exercises.
Dr. Adam Henze is a researcher, educator, and spoken word artist, and has shared his work in over 30 states, as well as Puerto Rico, Cuba, Canada, England, Ireland, and the United Arab Emirates. Adam is the Director of Literacy Programming at Flanner House and is the Director of Power of a Sentence, a creative writing program in Indiana prisons. Adam received his PhD in Literacy, Culture, and Language Education from Indiana University. He and his wife own Indy Type Shop, a hybrid typewriter repair shop, antiquarian bookstore, and event space.
Adam's book Cutting Words is available from Brick Street Books and his book Written in the Dish Pit is available from Chatter House Press. His poetic monodrama Call of the Void recently premiered at the 2026 IndyFringe Festival. Adam's first music project, a hip hop EP, will release in the winter of 2026.
