Volunteer judges are an essential part of NHDI contests. Judges review student project materials prior to contest, interview students on contest day, and deliberate with their judging team to provide feedback based on the provided rubric. No prior historical knowledge, experience, or specific qualifications are needed. Judges will need to work together with their judging team to interview students about their projects and provide detailed feedback.
Judge registration for the 2027 contest season is now open!
To register as a judge for the 2027 contest season, please review the contest dates and locations below and then select the contest you would like to volunteer for. Follow the registration instructions on the registration site to sign up. If you would like to volunteer for more than one contest, you will need to register for each contest individually.
