Event Details

Through rare historical photographs paired with recent views, historian and Pierceton native Joan Hostetler will bring Pierceton’s downtown to life.

Topics include the oldest surviving Italianate-style structures dating to 1882, the great fire of 1895 that destroyed the west side of First Street, the work of hometown architect Frank Logan and how the antiques trade put Pierceton on the map. The downtown commercial district is remarkably intact and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Attendees are also welcome to bring their own Pierceton-area photographs to the presentation. A scanner will be on hand to copy them into the Library’s digital archive during the program.

Funding for this Historic Preservation Month program is provided by a Historic Preservation Education Grant from Indiana Humanities and Indiana Landmarks.
