Readers, start your engines! We’re sharing a starting field of 33 poems – just like the race itself – as we lead up to the Indy 500 on May 28. The original poems come from a 2016 contest, sponsored by Indiana Humanities and the 100th Running Host Committee. The Indy 500 Official Poetry Contest revived a tradition from the 1920s, when an official poem was included in the race day program.
