The image is infamous. Two African Americans with their heads down, standing on the podium, with one gloved fist thrown into the air. In 1968 Tommie Smith and John Carlos made a symbolic gesture to show solidarity for oppressed people everywhere. A new documentary, called “The Salute” tells the story of what really happened before, during and after the salute. Watch the trailer, here.
