Former Indiana Poet Laureate Norbert Krapf was featured on the NPR program, The Writer’s Almanac, on July 23. Krapf’s poem Boy Scouts Camping Out was featured on the program and read by the host of the show, Garrison Keillor. The poem appeared in Norbert’s 1993 collection titled Somewhere in Southern Indiana. A podcast of the July 23 show can be found here.

The poetry reading kicks off a busy stretch for Krapf as he heads to his hometown of Jasper, Indiana on Aug. 6. Krapf will be at the Dubois County Museum for the Strassenfest and will read poems that relate to the Strassenfest and his German heritage. Then, on Aug. 27, Krapf will be joined by fellow poet and playwright Helmut Haberkamm at the Athenaeum’s Biergarten for a Stevie Ray Vaughn tribute show.
