We’re thrilled to honor another Humanities Hero, Terry Rheinheimer, for her great work with the Middlebury Community Public Library! Here’s a little bit of information about Terry:

As the Director of the Middlebury Community Public Library in Middlebury, Ind., Terry Rheinheimer has experienced the expansion of her library from serving 1,700 people in one town to serving more than 17,000 people in three townships. She has been the director of Middlebury Community Public Library since 1979 and is very involved in the library world. In 1987, Terry started the Let’s Talk About It book discussion series at her library where she has witnessed participants grow and learn through the sharing of books.

We asked Terry what the words “think, read, talk” meant to her. Here’s what she had to say:

Think – Thinking is mulling over, pondering, and making sense of the world around you.

Read – Reading is a gateway that transports you into other times, lives and experiences – all from the safety and comfort of your own home!

Talk – Talking is sharing who you are, what is important to you and what you’ve experienced.  When we talk to each other we build community.
