Conner Prairie is looking for young artists to share their family’s traditions during the Picture Indiana Youth Art Contest. Contestants will be competing for a chance to win Conner Prairie and Marsh Symphony on the Prairie TM tickets, along with their artwork on display for thousands to see during Indiana Festival June 5 & 6.

Indiana Festival highlights Indiana’s cultural traditions through music performances, crafts, activities and ethnic cuisine. This year we are celebrating the food traditions of different cultures. Food is an important part of our heritage. Recipes that reflect our backgrounds are passed down from generation to generation. Being able to share and enjoy traditions is a delicious way to appreciate other cultures. Have fun creating artwork that illustrates how food is a part of your family’s traditions. You might picture what you eat, how it is prepared and the way it is shared and celebrated in your family.

Entries will be judged by a volunteer panel and winners will be contacted prior to the festival. Awards will be given for the top entry in each of the following categories, including most creative design, honorable mention, best application of theme and best overall.

The contest is open to young artists ages 8 – 10. Deadline to receive entries is May 23, 2010. Each winner will receive four complimentary admission passes to Indiana Festival, four complimentary general admission tickets to use during the 2010 season, four complimentary 1859 Balloon Voyage tickets to use during the 2010 season and four tickets for a 2010 Symphony on the Prairie concert of your choice.

The Best Overall winner will also receive a $50 Conner Prairie gift certificate.
