What Are the Consequences of Covid-19 in Our Community?
Hear from local public-health professionals and reporters to better understand a number of issues that have come to light or been exacerbated as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Event Details
The consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic will be felt in our community for years, from the way we conduct business to the way we educate our children. But the area that has been most affected as a result—for better or for worse—will likely be our healthcare system.
In this panel discussion, participants will hear from local public-health professionals and reporters to better understand a number of issues that have come to light or been exacerbated as a result of the pandemic: public trust in science and healthcare; the allocation of scarce resources; the impact on rural and other minority populations; Indiana’s health rankings and its relationship to our state’s public-health spending; and more.
The discussion will feature:
- Chad Priest, CEO of the American Red Cross—Indiana
- Dr. Aaron Carroll, a pediatrician who is the chief health officer for Indiana University and a frequent contributor to the New York Times
- Farah Yousry, Side Effects reporter for WFYI and the Indianapolis Recorder
Kory Trott, the director of the Research Integrity and Consultation Program at Virginia Tech, will moderate the conversation.
This program is made possible thanks to a partnership between the Indianapolis Public Library, WFYI Public Media and the Association for Practical and Professional Ethics.
