Between the Civil War and World War I, steamboats on the Wabash River were a common sight, creating a commercial boom and an extensive houseboat community along the waterfront. Allen Shotwell, interim dean at Ivy Tech Community College, will explore how this industry expanded Terre Haute in the late 19th century and early 20th century.
