Event Details

“What does it mean to be Black?” is one of the main questions centered around the exhibit Unapologetically Noir 2022. Featuring over 60 photographs of Black men and women from all walks of life, the exhibit showcases diverse physical and mental characteristics of the participants.

The Marshall J. Gardner Center for the Arts will host Unapologetically Noir 2022 from February 4 to March 18. The exhibit is part of a broad initiative that Decay Devils is undertaking to explore the Black experience in northwest Indiana. Other activities will include a website with documentary photos and personal narratives, as well as a series of conversations that will bring together people from diverse backgrounds to explore challenges the region faces, including racial divides, but also to highlight strengths and ways to redefine the future.

The Marshall J. Gardner Center for the Arts gallery hours are:

  • Friday and Saturday, 6 p.m.–8 p.m.
  • Sunday, 2 p.m.–4 p.m.
