Event Details
The Jeffersonville chapter of the American Friends of Lafayette joins with the Jeffersonville Township Public Library to host a presentation by New York Times, USA Today, and Wall Street Journal best-selling author Stephanie Dray. Dray’s presentation is part of an event series to mark the 200th anniversary of the Marquis de Lafayette’s 1825 visit to Jeffersonville, Indiana. Among the truest believers in the principles of the American Revolution, Lafayette left a life of wealth and prestige in France to repeatedly risk his life and fortune to promote liberty and equality in the Americas and Europe. His work would not have been possible without the political savvy, financial management, and dauntless courage of Madame Lafayette, the general’s wife Adrienne.
In her talk, Dray will explore the legacy of the Marquis de Lafayette and the remarkable women in his life, drawing on her latest novel, The Women of Chateau Lafayette, to delve into the Marquis and Madame Lafayette’s role in the American Revolution, the French Revolution, and beyond. The presentation is recommended for teen and adult patrons and will take place in the North Program Room of the Jeffersonville Township Public Library.
