Author Janis Thornton will talk about tornadoes in Howard County, Indiana, and in particular the tornado outbreak on Palm Sunday, April 11, 1965, the deadliest ever to hit the state. During the late afternoon and early evening that balmy day, ten tornadoes struck the central and northern parts of the state, killing 137 people. Thornton’s book about the outbreak, The 1965 Palm Sunday Tornadoes in Indiana, was shortlisted for the 2024 Indiana Authors Awards best nonfiction book honor.

The program takes place in the community room of Century Villa Health Care.
