Refresh your creativity and recharge your mind! Share your art and meet like-minded people in your community at a place you know and love.

CDPL is hosting a Creative Aging Workshop (for 55+) in partnership with Indiana University’s Traditional Arts Indiana (TAI) and Indiana Humanities. Led by folklorist and TAI director Jon Kay, the session highlights how creative pursuits help older adults resist isolation, boredom, and helplessness and will teach strategies to identify an art form that is right for each participant. We will explore how arts activities like quilting, gardening, and music-making can enrich well-being.

Participants in the program will leave with a toolkit of actionable activities for both individuals and groups, as well as profiles of people who engage with a variety of traditional arts and knowledge to help them thrive in later life. Feel free to bring something you have created to show others.

The program is supported by the Allen Whitehill Clowes Charitable Foundation, Indiana Arts Commission, and the National Endowment for the Arts.

This workshop is for individuals 55 years of age or older. Registration is required for each attendee. Space is limited to 24 participants.
