Wunderkammer Company presents an evening with Sarah Thornton, a sociologist and critically acclaimed author who writes about art, design, and people. A Canadian who went to the United Kingdom on a Commonwealth Scholarship, she was once hailed as “Britain’s hippest academic.” Now based in San Francisco, Thornton is better known as “the Jane Goodall of the art world.” Her latest book, Tits Up, explores the universal truths of mammary glands alongside their specific meanings and uses in different real-world locations, examining how the status of this body part has an impact on women’s social standing and political power.
The following is the evening’s schedule:
5:30 p.m.: Doors open
6:00 p.m.: Discussion with Sarah Thornton
6:30 p.m.: Panel discussion with regional representatives of groups that Thornton examines in her book
7:00 p.m.: Book signing and networking
Hors d’oeuvres and cash bar will be available.
Registration is required via the RSVP button above. The event will be limited to ticket holders and will be at capacity when tickets sell out. Free parking is available onsite and throughout the neighborhood.
