Eleven Indiana communities selected to host ALL-IN Block Parties

Indiana Humanities has selected 11 organizations from across the state to host ALL-IN Block Parties in their communities. Awarded hosts span the state from South Bend to Jeffersonville and include libraries, a middle school and other community organizations. Each awarded organization will receive $1,000 in addition to a training workshop, promotional materials and prizes to offer to participants.

ALL-IN Block Parties are designed to bring people together to participate in a series of challenges that encourage Hoosiers to create new experiences, learn more about Indiana and imagine ways to make Indiana even better. The ALL-IN Block Parties are an avenue to bring the challenges, trivia and facts featured on the ALL-IN website (www.indianahumanities.org/ALL-IN) to life. Nearly 50 Block Parties have been supported over the past two years.

Selected organizations from this final round include:

• ArtMix, Indianapolis
• Delphi Public Library, Delphi
• Groundwork Indy, Indianapolis
• Jeffersonville Neighborhood Leadership Alliance, Jeffersonville
• Monticello Union Township Public Library, Monticello
• Nickel Plate Arts, Noblesville
• Northern Indiana Artists, Inc., South Bend
• Northside Middle School, Muncie
• Southeast Working Class Taskforce, Indianapolis
• Wunderkammer Company, Fort Wayne

The host organizations customize the ALL-IN Block Party model to fit within the culture and needs of their own community. For example, the Northern Indiana Artists Inc. plans to strengthen the connections within the art community, while the Jeffersonville Neighborhood Leadership Alliance will bring together law enforcement and neighborhood groups to facilitate connectivity, making Jeffersonville a better place to live. The Delphi Public Library’s ALL-IN Block Party will coincide with Carroll County’s Bicentennial Torch Relay.

“Through ALL-IN, Hoosiers engage in fun and important conversations about our state’s past, present and future,” said Keira Amstutz, president and CEO of Indiana Humanities. “It has been exciting to see how communities large and small have customized the block party model to connect their own residents to each other and our state – especially during this Bicentennial year.”

The 11 selected organizations join 38 previously awarded communities that have hosted or will host an ALL-IN Block Party through 2016.
