The Doris Duke Foundation has announced they will be awarding $1.5 million in NEW grants through their Building Bridges 2013-2014 Program: http://www.ddcf.org/Programs/Building-Bridges/.

Grants awarded through Building Bridges will go to support projects and programs intended to increase understanding of contemporary Muslim cultures through arts and media-based experiences. Organizations are encouraged to draw upon their core capabilities, audience knowledge, and resources in the creation of their proposals.

Some of the highlights of this opportunity include:

  • Grants in the amounts of $25,000 to $300,000 will be awarded for projects and programs over one to three years, depending on the project need.
  • Awards will be made to projects or programs starting January 2014.
  •  Organizations must be 501(c)(3) exempt
  • Organizational annual operating expenses must be greater than $250,000, with at least $50,000 dedicated to arts or media programming.

 An electronic postcard of intent to apply is due to the Foundation by May 31, 2013. A Letter of Interest, also submitted online, is due June 14, 2013.
