In support of Purdue Northwest’s One Book, One University (OBOU) program this academic year, the College of Engineering and Sciences will host a one-day event featuring activities such as a panel discussion, community-wide debate, and keynote speech.

These activities will explore topics related to this year’s book, The Coming Wave: Technology, Power, and the 21st Century’s Greatest Dilemma by Mustafa Suleyman with Michael Bhaskar, aiming to deepen understanding, cultivate diverse perspectives, and raise public awareness.

Dr. David Staley, historian, designer, and futurist from The Ohio State University, will present the keynote address. He will also lead the panel discussion with industry partners to gain diverse perspectives about the impact of technology on society and how we can better prepare for the coming wave of artificial intelligence and biomedical engineering. Using the OBOU as context, faculty, staff, students, industry leaders, educators, and experts from varied backgrounds will explore the impacts of technology on culture, politics, governance, economy, medicine, and more.
