Event Details

To commemorate the passing of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., the City of Bloomington’s Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Birthday Celebration Commission will host a series of events in early April. In collaboration with the Monroe County NAACP, Indiana University’s Neal-Marshall Black Culture Center and the IU Black Film Center and Archive, the commission will screen Carmen Jones, a 1954 American musical film featuring an all-black cast starring Dorothy Dandridge, Harry Belafonte and Pearl Bailey. Following the screening, panelists and the audience will engage in conversation about the film.

The event takes place in the Herman B Wells Library screening room 048.
