Dig into a delicious meal and deep conversations as Indiana Humanities invites Hoosiers across the state to explore humanity’s legacy and what it means to be a good ancestor.
On March 29, from 6-8pm, simultaneous dinner conversations called “Chew on This: Are We Being Good Ancestors?” will take place at eight restaurants in Evansville, Indianapolis, Jasper, Madison, Terre Haute, Valparaiso and Wabash.
The events are part of Indiana Humanities’ multi-year thematic initiative Unearthed, which encourages Hoosiers to discover and discuss their relationships with the natural world and explore how we shape the environment and how the environment shapes us.
“Gathering together for a shared meal is a great way to break down barriers,” said Keira Amstutz, president and CEO of Indiana Humanities. “Our Chew on This experience provides a space for people of all backgrounds to come together and discuss deep questions, like those posed by our Unearthed theme.”
Among the topics of conversation are what is owed to future generations and how we make decisions today with consideration to the inhabitants of an unknown future.
At each dinner conversation, an expert facilitator will guide the conversation and help participants grapple with questions about humanity’s legacy and how to imagine an uncertain future.
Tickets are $30 and include a meal, a non-alcoholic drink, tax and tip. Alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase for an additional cost at most locations. Space is limited and registration is required.
