Meet our 2022 Summer Interns
May 20, 2022This summer we have two fantastic interns joining our team to help tell the amazing stories of Hoosiers thinking, reading and talking across the state.
Lee Durham
Digital Production Intern
Although Lee was born in Indianapolis, she grew up in the Hampton Roads area of southeastern Virginia, moving back to Indiana in 2010 to be closer to her family. She’s currently working on a bachelor’s degree in Media Arts and Science (concentrating in video production) from IUPUI, which she is set to complete in December of 2022.
Lee is a passionate lover of all things film-related, particularly in the field of documentary. Her decision to pursue a career in filmmaking is driven by her belief in the power of storytelling to help people better understand themselves, each other and the world they share. She’s a fifth-generation Hoosier – her family is deeply entrenched in Indiana history (fun fact: she’s related to Booth Tarkington), which is a huge source of joy and inspiration to her.
Lee lives in the Midtown Indianapolis area with her 9-year-old daughter, Blythe, and their beloved West Highland White Terrier, Toad. She loves Bob Dylan, bikes, birds, books and baking, among entirely too many other things.
Lydia Laker
Kristen Fuhs Wells Communications Intern
Lydia comes to Indiana Humanities with a significant appreciation for the art of expression. She has a passion for philanthropic work and community collaboration at Butler University, in the pursuit of a B.A. in strategic communications and a minor in political science.
A born-and-bred Hoosier, Lydia believes there is power behind diversity, equity and inclusion. She represents these values as a Butler University Dr. John Morton-Finney Scholar. Through this experience, she has had the privilege of addressing systemic issues within society through volunteerism, civic engagement and advocacy. Her favorite volunteer event was serving at a book fair located at the Coburn Place, a domestic violence shelter.
In her free time, you can find Lydia further developing her repurposed clothing business LooksWithLyd, creating the next best R&B/soul playlist, extending her research of the effects of diversity in children’s literature, or reading her favorite work by Audre Lorde.
