Learn the story of Underground Railroad conductor John Carter and his remarkable family from Historic Eleutherian College President Jan Vetrhus. The Carter family not only shaped Madison in the 19th century, but they also were leaders in business, church, education, and politics. This presentation will also provide deeper knowledge into Madison’s forgotten family and their mark in history during this harsh time in America.
