50th Anniversary of JFK’s Assassination

The assassination of John F. Kennedy shook the nation on that fateful November day in 1963.

Now, on the 50th anniversary of JFK’s death and funeral, the thoughts and images of that day are still prominent in the minds of those who lived through it.

Indiana University alum John Sherman was present at JFK’s funeral 50 years ago and still remembers the grief of that time. In honor of JFK’s memory and the deep impact the events had on his own life, Sherman has commemorated the anniversary by sharing his own personal reflections on the time (see image of journal entry from Nov. 22 to the left) as well as a poster with scenes from the funeral (see image to right). His work is on display at the Garfield Parks Art Center through Nov. 21.
