Event Details

In partnership with Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College and the Sisters of Providence of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, the Swope Art Museum in Terre Haute will exhibit Stories from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods Historic District from August 6 through October 4, 2021. Saint Mary-of-the-Woods Historic District represents a large collection of architectural design by Bohlen and Son of Indianapolis. Curated from lofty attics to basement crypts, Stories presents vignettes of history showcased through architectural drawings, photographs and original design elements from the Historic District, building connection to our own lives and to the value of preservation.

The exhibition runs from August 6 through October 4, 2021, in the museum’s second-floor lobbies and educational galleries. The college and the museum will host an opening reception on Friday, August 6, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Admission to the museum is always free. For more information about visiting the museum, including its operating hours, go to www.swope.org or call 812.238.1676. Additional information about the exhibition and the college is available at https://smwhistoricdistrict.org/events.html.

This program received support from a Historic Preservation Education Grant, offered by Indiana Humanities and Indiana Landmarks.
