Event Details

Powerful Conversations on Race is a monthly dialogue series hosted by Spirit & Place. The series explores topics around race and racism and the resulting impact. The June 2022 dialogue examines “Contemporary Perspectives on Race and Racial Violence.”

For each dialogue, Spirit & Place chooses one or two readings and other source materials such as humanities-based texts, poetry, art and videos to ground the conversation. Trained facilitators use these materials to further support and push the discussion into deeper examination and reflection on participants’ underlying beliefs around race and racism in America and the implications. It is not necessary to read or engage with any of the source materials before the session. In fact, Spirit & Place encourages everyone to come to the table as is.

This is not a lecture or book club but rather a space for community to come together and dive deeply into a variety of topics concerning race. Active participation is expected.
