SUMMARY:Campfires: Oliver's Woods Nature Preserve (Indianapolis)
DESCRIPTION:Join Indiana Humanities and the Carmel Clay Public Library for a special trek through the Oliver’s Woods Nature Preserve as we think\, read\, and talk about our central Indiana landscape. During the journey\, we’ll learn to identify various Indiana species while reading passages that encourage us to connect with our Hoosier environment and help us understand how we affect our surroundings and how they affect us. This trek will be co-led by local humanities scholar Shari Wagner and CILTI naturalist Grace Van Kan. Along the way\, we’ll stop to read short nature-themed writings before concluding the journey with shared snacks and discussion around a campfire. \nTHINGS TO KEEP IN MIND: \n\nThis campfire walk is designed for ages 21 and up.\nPlease bring a reusable water bottle to take with you on the outing.\nOnce registered\, participants will receive instructions for driving and parking.\nIn the event of a weather cancellation\, you will receive an email message at least two hours prior to the event’s start time.\n\nIndiana Humanities’ Campfires events pair nature and literature to spark conversations about Indiana’s future. This year’s series is made possible by generous funding from the Nina Mason Pulliam Charitable Trust. Indiana Humanities is proud to be a part of a consortium of Central Indiana organizations helping Hoosiers to access and appreciate the White River. They are also grateful to friends at Upland Brewing Co. for providing delicious\, cold beer for participants. \nQuestions? Contact us at adultservices@carmelclaylibrary.org or 317.814.3988.
