SUMMARY:To Make a Beginning Screening and Discussion
DESCRIPTION:Set against the backdrop of early Indiana\, the film To Make a Beginning tells the compelling story of Jacob and Charlotte Weaver\, who immigrated from New York State to the wilds of the Indiana Territory during the height of the War of 1812. The film’s narrative is based upon 34 years of letters. It was shot on location at historic Musee de Venoge (the Weaver homestead) and other locations in Switzerland County. \nThe History Center in Madison\, Indiana\, will host a screening of the film on October 22. After the screening\, Matthew and Sarah Vosmeier\, professors at Hanover College\, will answer questions about the events portrayed in the film and help to put the story in broader historical context. Writer and director Steve Albolt will also share information about the film’s production. \nTickets are free but must be reserved at www.venoge.org. \nFor more information\, contact Donna Weaver at dweaver@waxportraits.com or 812.593.5726. \nThis program received support from an Indiana Humanities Action Grant.
