DESCRIPTION:Celebrate Juneteenth with poets Corey Ewing and Januarie York at the Indianapolis Public Library’s Center for Black Literature and Culture. Ewing and York will lead a workshop on famed poet Etheridge Knight and his works. SUMMARY:Etheridge Knight Exhibit: The Poet\, The Poem\, and the People
DESCRIPTION:Explore the life and poetry of Etheridge Knight—Black Arts Movement poet and Indianapolis resident—in the exhibit The Poet\, the Poem\, and the People. This exhibit was created based on the work of Butler student research assistants Chris Strong\, DaCoda Love and Nate Lemen. It incorporates archival research from the Etheridge Knight collection housed in Butler University’s Irwin Library Special Collections as well as information gathered through outreach with Etheridge Knight’s family and friends. \nThe exhibit will be on display at the Indianapolis Public Library’s Center for Black Literature and Culture.
