SUMMARY:The Hidden Sun
DESCRIPTION:To celebrate the 2024 total solar eclipse\, Brick Street Poetry is collaborating with organizations along the path of totality to bring poetry to community events. The Hidden Sun series of activities will take place in the weeks leading to the April 8 eclipse. \nBrick Street Poetry has commissioned several poets to write haikus as part of the Hidden Sun project\, using as inspiration NASA images of eclipses. On the evening of March 13\, many of the poets will gather at DePauw University to read their works\, each accompanied by live music and the eclipse image that inspired the haiku. After the readings\, audience members can engage in a question-and-answer session to dig deeper into the poetry and music and explore the science behind eclipses. \nBeginning in March\, banners throughout the town of Greencastle will feature the haikus and the images that inspired them. \nThe March 13 program takes place in the Thompson Recital Hall at DePauw University’s Green Center for the Performing Arts.
