SUMMARY:Unapologetically Noir Exhibit Opening
DESCRIPTION:“What does it mean to be Black?” is one of the main questions centered around the exhibit Unapologetically Noir 2022. Featuring over 60 photographs of Black men and women from all walks of life\, the exhibit showcases diverse physical and mental characteristics of the participants. \nThe Gary Public Library will host Unapologetically Noir 2022 from February 4 to March 18\, with an opening reception from noon to 2 p.m. on February 5. The exhibit is part of a broad initiative that Decay Devils is undertaking to explore the Black experience in northwest Indiana. Other activities will include a website with documentary photos and personal narratives\, as well as a series of conversations that will bring together people from diverse backgrounds to explore challenges the region faces\, including racial divides\, but also to highlight strengths and ways to redefine the future. \nFor more information\, contact Decay Devils at decaydevils@gmail.com. \nThis program received support from an Indiana Humanities Innovation Grant.
