DESCRIPTION:The biannual Frederick Douglass Symposium returns with a three-day online event sponsored by the Frederick Douglass Papers. Leading Douglass scholars will present papers on Douglass’s impact on religion and politics in the United States and lead discussions on the future of Douglass scholarship and teaching. \nThe symposium will include the following programs. \nWednesday\, February 16\, 12:30 to 4:00 p.m. \n\nThe keynote address\, “Popular Philosophy with Soul: Frederick Douglass’s Radical Humanism\,” delivered by Nick Bromell (University of Massachusetts)\nA panel discussion on Frederick Douglass and American Politics featuring Julie Husband (University of Northern Iowa)\, Robert Levine (University of Maryland)\, Kelvin Black (CUNY Hunter College) and Jack Kaufman-McKivigan and Alex Schwartz (IUPUI)\n\nThursday\, February 17\, 12:30 to 5:00 p.m. \n\nA panel discussion on Frederick Douglass and American Religion featuring Joseph Tucker-Edmonds (IUPUI)\, Maurice Wallace (Rutgers University)\, Heather L.
