SUMMARY:The Black Art Workshop in Partnership with the University of Southern Indiana
DESCRIPTION:The Evansville African American Museum partners with the University of Southern Indiana Art and Design Department to present the Black Art Workshop and Exhibition. This free weekend workshop is open to all\, including students\, artists and interested community members (though registration is required and 16+ is the recommended age for participation). Workshop attendees will learn about Black art\, aesthetics and theory while experiencing the fine arts through curated studio sessions focused on painting and photography. Sophia Okotah\, Ayinde Rochon\, Matthew Fields and Kenneth Randle are the instructors. \nSchedule \n\nFriday: VIP Evening Reception—Museum members and guests of USI will meet with the artists and enjoy beverages and hors d’oeuvres.\nSaturday: Workshop and Community Artist Reception—The workshop begins at 10 a.m. Two one-hour morning sessions will take place\, followed by an hour for lunch. Sessions resume at 1 p.m. and last until 5 p.m. At 7 p.m. artists and community members are invited for an artist meet-and-greet reception. All festivities end at 10 p.m.\nSunday: Studio Sessions and Panel Discussion—The workshop begins at noon and ends at 2 p.m. A panel discussion takes place from 3 to 5 p.m.\n\nTo register for the workshop\, click on the RSVP button above. Registration includes two free lunches and hors d’oeuvres. \nThe workshop takes place at the University of Southern Indiana’s McCutchan Art Center and Pace Galleries.
