SUMMARY:Smithsonian’s Voices and Votes: Democracy in America Exhibition (Upland)
DESCRIPTION:The Smithsonian’s traveling exhibition\, Voices and Votes: Democracy in America\, will continue its tour of Indiana at the Upland Historical Society in Upland where it will be on display from Aug. 22-Oct. 4\, 2026. The exhibition gives an in-depth look on America’s democracy and brings discussions about democracy to local communities. Host organizations will present a companion exhibition and series of programs in their communities during the exhibits six-week visit.  \nThe exhibit will tour the seven small towns across Indiana during the Semiquincentennial\, which commemorates the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Purpose: : A Symposium of Art\, Culture and Community brings together artists\, educators\, scholars\, and community leaders for a two-day gathering exploring art’s power to activate place\, deepen identity\, and strengthen community.
