Seeing Systems: Peace, Justice and Sustainability
Start a powerful conversation and find pathways for change in our everyday lives
Event Details

How does one mold such complex principles as peace, justice and sustainability into a coherent story? The difficulty reflects the media’s broader struggle to convey how these themes are mutually linked. Seeing Systems: Peace, Justice and Sustainability, a six-week reading and discussion program, connects the dots between three of society’s most pressing challenges and helps participants find pathways for powerful change in our everyday lives. Using writings by Thich Nhat Hahn, Donella Meadows, Desmond Tutu, Mary Oliver, Wendell Berry, Howard Zinn, Annie Leonard and others, the series helps participants to recognize and respond to the interconnected systems of the modern world. Participants receive weekly readings and gather 1.5 hours per week for facilitated discussion on the topic of each reading.

The series kicks off on Monday, January 28, 2019, and runs six weeks through Monday, March 4, 2019. Sessions take place from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Register by January 25 by emailing csfuture@iusb.edu. Once registered, pick up your free booklet at the Civil Rights Heritage Center.
