Novel Conversations Speakers Program (Greencastle)
Event Details

The Putnam County Public Library announces the appearance of author Susan Neville for the Indiana Humanities 2020 Novel Conversations Speakers program. Refreshments will be served during the Meet & Greet.

5:45 – 6:30 Meet & Greet and Book Sale
6:30 – 7:30 Author Talk
7:30 – 8:00 Q&A, Conversation, and Book Sale

Susan will discuss her new novel, The Town of Whispering Dolls, the line between writing fiction and nonfiction, and how a writer uses facts in both.

About The Town of Whispering Dolls: located somewhere in the rust belt in the early twenty-first century, residents of The Town of Whispering Dolls dream of a fabled and illusory past even as new technologies reshape their world into something new and deeply strange: Dollswalk down the streets, cradling their empty heads and letting the wind turn them into flutes. A politician heads to Washington DC and leaves a toxic underground plume in his wake. A woman eats car parts instead of confronting the children who’ve forgotten her. A young woman falls in love with the robot who took her job at the candy factory. The manufacturing past of the Midwesthaunts these stories, as does the opioid epidemic and the technology of war.
