The National Center for Great Lakes Native American Culture’s 13th annual conference will focus on “Great Civil Chiefs.” Four leading educators and tribal members will discuss Great Lakes Native civil chiefs who have made significant contributions to their tribes and to history. Attendees (who are likely more familiar with the war chiefs) will learn how in times of peace, the civil chiefs were in charge of tribal affairs and thus were responsible for influencing much of their tribes’ history and culture.
Registration is $35/$25 for students and includes lunch. To register, send payment to Kay Neumayr, Conference Secretary, at 4950 N. 750 E., Attica, IN 47918.
