The first Sunday of the month, the Allen County–Fort Wayne Historical Society presents the George R. Mather Sunday Lecture Series. The series consists of a number of informative lectures presented by subject-matter experts, in an effort to educate the community on local history and often to illuminate the role that Allen County people and events have played in the broader scope of national and international affairs.
This month’s lecture is “Historical Weaponry: Artifacts from the Revolutionary War, Civil War and More,” presented by Jack Lawson. Histories of conflict are filled with accounts of people and places, but even weaponry can tell a wartime tale. In his talk, Lawson will present actual artifacts—including rifles and swords—and will discuss each piece’s story and significance in history.
