Author Alice Wong will speak at the third-annual Gather ’round the Table event sponsored by the City of Bloomington’s Council for Community Accessibility. Wong, a disabled activist, media maker and consultant, is the founder and director of the Disability Visibility Project, an online community dedicated to creating, sharing and amplifying disability media and culture. She’s the editor of Disability Visibility: First-Person Stories from the Twenty-First Century, an anthology of essays by disabled people.
In addition to Wong’s keynote presentation, the event will include two moderated panels with community members and one of the contributors to Disability Visibility. Attendees will receive a free copy of the book and will be asked to read two essays prior to attending the event in order to fully engage with the presentations.
Participants will have the option to attend in person or via Zoom, and reservations are required. (RSVP using the button above.) Because of social-distancing requirements, only 84 will be able to attend in person. Those who do attend in person will enjoy a selection of appetizers and dessert.
