Bicentennial Celebration at Lanier Mansion
Celebrate the Bicentennial Torch Relay in Madison!
Event Details

On the weekend of September 17 and 18, Indiana’s bicentennial torch relay will pass through the town of Madison, and the Lanier Mansion State Historic Site will celebrate with two days of festivities. Activities include a picnic and concert, an exhibition of traditional Indiana art, and storytellers highlighting local connections to Mary Todd Lincoln as well as the history of the town’s steamboat era.

This event received funding from a Humanities Initiative Grant.



Admission Free; donations appreciated

10 a.m. – 3 p.m. Free tours of the Lanier Mansion and other Madison Historic Sites

11 a.m. “The Life and Tmes of Mary Todd Lincoln” with Katelyn Coyne

1 p.m. “Steamboat’s A Comin’” with Kevin Stonerock


Admission Free, donations encouraged. 

5-8 p.m. Music at the Mansion/State Bicentennial Celebration
