The Hoosier State is home to a number of prominent poets, and Trine University will highlight a few of these celebrated voices during an evening of readings and conversation.
- Former Indiana poet laureate and Pulitzer Prize nominee Adrian Matejka will read from 4:30 to 5 p.m. Matejka, professor at Indiana University Bloomington, is the author of a number of award-winning poetry collections, including Mixology, The Big Smoke and Map to the Stars. His latest work, a graphic novel Last on His Feet, is forthcoming in 2021.
- Award-winning poet Nancy Chen Long will read from 6 to 6:30 p.m. Long is the author of Light into Bodies and Wider Than the Sky. She is the recipient of a National Endowment for the Arts Creative Writing Fellowship and was honored with the 2019 Poetry Society of America Robert H. Winner Award.
- Between their readings, from 5 to 5:45 p.m., Matejka and Long will engage in a conversation about their work and the art of poetry. Fellow poet George Kalamaras (professor of English at Purdue University Fort Wayne and also a former Indiana poet laureate) will serve as moderator.
